Creative Fashions I Classroom Rules Mrs. Wilson Room 135 Extension 1133
Welcome My name is Mrs. Wilson and I will be your teacher for this semester class. Through this semester, you will be learning about fabrics and how to turn them into beautiful creations to wear and use. Expectations Because this is a lab class, your attendance is extremely important, so try not to miss any days of class. You will be responsible to get caught up on your projects. When you are absent you can usually catch up on the next class, however a continued absence will require after schoolwork in the lab or a reduction in your grade. Rules Mutual Respect is a must when working in the lab. Please make sure that you use only your equipment, put everything away at the end of class and make sure that the iron is always unplugged. When using the specialty machines, you will have to be patient while waiting in line.
You will be tardy if you are not at your machine when the bell rings.
No Food or drink in the sewing lab. You may chew gum, but keep it in your mouth. All purses, bookbags, etc must be put on the shelves at the front of the room, so you have plenty of room to sew
Make sure that you have your supplies by the assigned date. You will need to have the following supplies by _____________ Seam gauge Pin cushion Scissors that have not cut paper (full size scissors) Seam Ripper 1/2 yard of fleece ( not due when the other supplies are due, I will tell you later) $2.00 for stuffing that you will use throughout the semester. 1 large spool of thread If you cannot get the supplies by the above date, speak to me ASAP: otherwise points will be taken off of your grade it you do not have them on the assigned date.
We will be making several projects this semester and you will be expected to purchase the fabric for these projects. Some will be ordered in kits from me and some you will need to go to the fabric store and make those purchases.
You will clean up for the day when there are 3 minutes left in the class period. Please line up by the door so that I can check the room.
Here is a list of project we will be completing this semester, additional project will be added at a later date. Sew on Paper Scrunchies Patchwork Pillow Embroidery design Tote bag Pajama Pants Stuffed Animal Salvation Army dress a bear contest Goal sheets Final quillow Some of these projects will be made with a kit that will be purchases from the Haan Company. The type of kits and the cost will be decided upon in the next week and you will be given a due date for that money.
This is a fun class where you are busy all of the time. If you are not busy working on your projects, you will loose participation points each day.

The student will know how to lay a pattern out on-grain. The student will know the meaning of pattern symbols The student will know how to operate a computerized embroidery machine.
