My name is Mrs. Wilson and I will be your teacher for this semester class. Through this semester, you will be learning about fabrics and how to turn them into beautiful creations to wear and use.
Because this is a lab class, your attendance is extremely important, so try not to miss any days of class. You will be responsible to get caught up on your projects. When you are absent you can usually catch up on the next class, however a continued absence will require after schoolwork in the lab or a reduction in your grade.
Mutual Respect is a must when working in the lab. Please make sure that you use only your equipment, put everything away at the end of class and make sure that the iron is always unplugged. When using the specialty machines, you will have to be patient while waiting in line.
You will be counted tardy if you are not in the room when the bell rings at the beginning of class. 1st tardy teacher warning. 2nd tardy teacher warning, note sent home to parent. 3rd tardy Dean Referral 2 op hours 4th tardy Dean Referral 4 op hours 5th tardy Dean Referral Sat. detention 6th tardy Removal from class You will be tardy if you are not at your machine when the bell rings.

We will be making several projects this semester and you will be excused to purchase the fabric for these projects. Some will be ordered in kits from me and some you will need to go to the fabric store and make those purchases.
No Food or drink in the sewing lab. You may chew gum, but keep it in your mouth.
You will clean up for the day when there are 3 minutes left in the class period. Please line up by the door so that I can check the room.
Here is a list of project we will be completing this semester, additional project will be added at a later date. Sample Book Children’s hospital Quilts Patchwork star pillow or appliqué project pillow Haan Sweatshirt Pattern of the class’s choice Rag Time Quilt or T-shirt quilt
Some of these projects will be made with a kit that will be purchases from the Haan Company. The type of kits and the cost will be decided upon in the next week and you will be given a due date for that money.
This is a fun class where you are busy all of the time. If you are not busy working on your projects, you will loose participation points each day.
